Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

Thomas Ridinger was carried off from his ancestral home of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania at an early age to the somewhat less green pastures of Concord, North Carolina and Levittown, New York. After attending Southern Illinois University he moved to New York City where he is now a novelist after incarnations of art director, photographer and photo editor for such magazines as Car and Driver, Popular Photography, Esquire, Barron’s, The Movies and Smart Money.  He has also produced corporate communication projects for many Fortune 500 companies including: GTE, Bell South, Best Foods, Campbell’s Soup, and SCOR Reinsurance. In 1981 he was cofounder and art director of the original Camera Arts magazine, winner of Columbia University’s National Magazine Award and considered by many to have been the best consumer photography magazine ever published in the United States. In addition to the National Magazine Award, Mr. Ridinger has also been recognized by the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism, the Art Directors Clubs of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, the Society of Publication Designers, as well as by other institutions and associations. He continues to live relatively happily-ever-after in New York City with his wife Lea and a big-boned cat named Ejoe.
